Help for buyers

Last updated the current version of the app

How to find what you need nearby, order safely, and look after your account. If something below doesn't match what you're seeing, the app may have moved on since this page was last updated — reach out and we'll fix it.

Finding shops and listings

Search — search by keyword, filter by category, price, and listing type, and sort by distance or price. Turn on “Nearby only” to restrict results to a radius around you, or leave it off to browse every shop.

Map — shops plotted around your current location. Tap a pin to preview a shop, see how far away it is, message the seller, or hail them directly. Use the category and radius controls to narrow what's shown.

Reels — short seller videos showcasing products and services, browsable like a feed.

Shop page — tap any shop or listing to open its page: photos, category, distance, what it offers, and reviews from past buyers. If the owner has added a profile photo you'll see it marked “Owner”, so you know who you're dealing with.

Why can't I see a shop? Sellers choose how far from their shop buyers can discover it, so a shop may not appear in browse, search, or trending when you're farther away. A direct link, an existing chat, or a favorite still opens it, and if you haven't shared your location you'll see every shop.

Favorites — tap the heart on any listing to save it for later.

Buying

Listings come in two modes. Escrow-protected listings (marked “Escrow”) are paid for in-app — add to cart, check out, and Ajankara holds the payment until you confirm the order arrived as described. Contact to arrange listings are agreed directly with the seller (price, delivery, pickup) outside Ajankara's payment flow — use the Chat button on the listing to start that conversation.

Cart — everything you've added from escrow-protected listings. Checkout walks you through delivery address and payment.

Platform fee — when you pay in the app, Ajankara adds a platform fee to the price. You see it in your cart and again before you pay, and it's part of the total you're charged. It's separate from the commission the seller pays on the same order. If the order is refunded, the fee is refunded with it. There's no platform fee when you pay on delivery.

Pay on delivery — some sellers also let you reserve an item and pay them in person once you've seen it. You'll see it as a choice at checkout when the shop offers it. Nothing is charged in the app and you pay the listed price with nothing on top. There's no escrow on these orders, because you only pay after you've checked what you're buying. When you've paid, the seller marks “Payment received” and you confirm it. If that record is wrong, raise a problem within 72 hours; if you say nothing, it stands. An order nobody closes within 7 days is cancelled. It works with one shop at a time, and discount codes only work when you pay in the app. The rules are in section 6 of our Terms of Service.

Orders — every order you've placed, its status, and a receipt. If something's wrong with an order, open it and raise a dispute — see our Dispute Resolution page for how that's handled.

When your payment is released — Ajankara holds your payment until you confirm the order arrived as described. The seller has 7 days from your payment to mark the order as sent; if they don't, it's cancelled and refunded to you. Once it's sent, you have 72 hours to confirm it or raise a dispute. If you do neither, the payment is released to the seller automatically, and we notify you about 24 hours before that happens. A dispute raised before then freezes the payment. The full rules are in section 5 of our Terms of Service.

Hail a shop — the lightning-bolt icon on a shop or listing, or the map. A one-tap way to ask a shop “are you open and ready right now?” without a full order — useful for services and quick pickups. A shop has 5 minutes to answer. If it accepts, you pay the shop directly when you collect the item: hails aren't paid for in the app, and Ajankara doesn't hold or refund any money for them. An accepted hail you haven't collected within 24 hours closes by itself, and hails that were declined, expired or cancelled are deleted 30 days later.

Bookings — for listings that take appointments, request a time slot and track its status.

Messages, reviews, and your account

Messages — chat threads with sellers. Attach a photo or PDF, link a listing, or choose “Share my location” to send a one-time pin of where you are (it doesn't keep tracking you).

Inbox — every update about your orders, bookings, hails, account and money, kept like an email: star, archive or trash a message, search it, and filter by category. Messages that need you to act are marked important, and one tap takes you to what it's about. Deleted messages stay in the Trash for 30 days.

Reviews — leave a review from a completed order's page.

Refer a friend — your personal referral link and any discount codes you've earned are on your Account page. Share it; you and your friend both get a discount.

Account — add or change your profile photo, edit your profile, change your password, set an emergency contact, manage saved delivery addresses, turn two-factor authentication on or off, and control notification & privacy preferences (push, WhatsApp, email, location sharing, public profile).

Your profile photo is shown on your Account page. Ajankara can remove a photo that breaks our community guidelines, and will tell you when it does.

Forgot your password? Use Forgot password from the login screen — you'll get a 6-digit code by email or WhatsApp.

Want to sell?

Contact support — open a ticket from the Contact page and follow the replies under “My tickets”.

During a hail or booking — the “Get help” button reaches support straight away, and “Share status” creates a link a person you trust can open, without an Ajankara account, to check on how it's going.
