These terms are an agreement between you and SmartViews Limited, which owns and operates Ajankara. By creating an account, or by using the Ajankara website or app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Ajankara.
Ajankara is a proximity-based marketplace connecting buyers to nearby shops and service providers — covering both physical goods and services — operating across Nigeria. Ajankara operates the platform; it does not itself sell the goods or perform the services listed by sellers, unless explicitly stated otherwise.
Who we are. Ajankara, including its website, its mobile app and its name and logo, is owned and operated by SmartViews Limited, a registered company. In these terms, “Ajankara”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean SmartViews Limited.
You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep your login credentials secure. You're responsible for activity that happens under your account. Ajankara is intended for users old enough to enter into binding agreements under Nigerian law, and in any case for people aged 18 or over. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
If you add an optional emergency contact from your Account page, you confirm you have that person's permission to share their name and phone number with us for the limited purposes described in our Privacy Policy.
Sellers must complete identity verification (KYC) before their shop is publicly listed. Ajankara reviews KYC submissions and may approve, reject, or request more information at its discretion. Sellers are responsible for the accuracy of their listings, the quality of goods and services provided, and compliance with applicable Nigerian consumer and trade law.
Depending on the seller's plan, listings, ad placements, and cross-selling features may carry subscription fees or commission — shown to sellers before they're charged. Commission also applies to orders a buyer pays for on delivery (section 6).
On an order paid for in the app, the seller's commission is taken out of the seller's share of the payment. The buyer pays a separate platform fee on top of the price (section 4), so Ajankara is paid by both sides of an order paid in the app.
For an escrow-protected order, the seller must mark the order as sent within 7 days of the buyer's payment. An order that is not sent in time is cancelled and refunded to the buyer, and its stock is put back. Payment for an order is released to the seller only as set out in section 5.
Some listings support in-app checkout with escrow: your payment is held until you confirm the order was received as described, or until it is released or refunded as set out in section 5. Other listings are “contact to arrange” — you agree price, delivery, or service details directly with the seller outside of Ajankara's payment flow. Ajankara's escrow protection only applies to the former.
Platform fee. When you pay in the app, Ajankara adds a platform fee to the price of your order. It is shown in your cart and again before you pay, and it is part of the total you are charged. It is separate from the commission the seller pays Ajankara on the same order. Nothing is added when you pay on delivery.
A seller may also offer pay on delivery: you reserve the item in the app and pay the seller in person once you have seen it. That is covered in section 6, and escrow does not apply to it.
In-app payments are processed by Paystack. Ajankara does not store your raw card details. Ajankara is not a bank or a deposit-taking institution, and holding a payment in escrow does not make the money a deposit or earn interest for you.
This section applies only to escrow-protected orders paid for in the app, not to “contact to arrange” listings or to hails (see section 7). While an order is in escrow, Ajankara holds the buyer's payment, and it leaves escrow only in the ways below.
Some sellers also offer pay on delivery. The buyer reserves the item in the app, looks at it, and pays the seller in person, in cash or by transfer. Ajankara does not take, hold, or refund that payment, so section 5 (escrow) does not apply to these orders. The app only keeps the record.
A “hail” asks a shop whether it can have an item ready for pickup right now. Hails are not part of escrow and are not paid for in the app.
Reviews should reflect a genuine transaction and your honest experience. Sellers may publicly reply to reviews on their shop. Ajankara may remove reviews or listings that are fraudulent, abusive, or otherwise violate these terms, and may suspend accounts that repeatedly do so.
If an order doesn't match what was agreed, buyers can raise a dispute against that order, any time before its payment is released (see section 5). See our Dispute Resolution page for how that process works. For a pay-on-delivery order, the buyer can dispute the seller's record that they paid, as set out in section 6.
Ajankara facilitates connections between buyers and sellers but is not a party to the underlying sale of goods or provision of services (outside of escrow-protected transactions Ajankara itself processes). To the extent permitted by law, SmartViews Limited isn't liable for the acts or omissions of individual sellers or buyers.
To the extent the law allows, SmartViews Limited is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profits, lost sales, lost data or damage to reputation, arising from your use of Ajankara. Where SmartViews Limited is found liable to you despite these terms, its total liability for all claims connected with Ajankara is limited to the fees you paid to Ajankara in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any right you have as a consumer that the law does not allow to be waived.
We may update these terms as the product changes, and will update the date at the top of this page when we do. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or applicable law.
Changed on 4 October 2026: section 5 now says that the 72 hours to confirm or dispute an order start when the seller marks it as sent (they used to count from payment), and that an order the seller doesn't send within 7 days is cancelled and refunded. Section 6 is new: pay on delivery, where the buyer pays the seller in person and the seller records it in the app. Section 7 is new too: hails are paid for in person, not in the app, and dead hails are deleted after 30 days.
Changed on 5 October 2026: sections 3 and 4 now say plainly that a buyer who pays in the app pays a platform fee on top of the price, separate from the seller's commission. The fee was already charged and shown before payment; it was not spelled out here until now.
Changed on 15 October 2026: these terms now name SmartViews Limited as the owner and operator of Ajankara, and sections 12 to 17 are new: acceptable use, disclaimers, your responsibility for claims you cause, ownership of content, governing law, and general terms.
Also changed on 15 October 2026: section 18 is new: meeting points, where a buyer and a seller agree one place and time for an in-person handover, and a private link they can give to someone they trust. Contact is now section 19.
You agree not to use Ajankara to:
SmartViews Limited may remove content, hold or refuse a payout where it reasonably suspects fraud or illegality, suspend or close an account, and report suspected crime to the police or another authority, with or without notice where the law or the seriousness of the matter requires it.
Ajankara is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, SmartViews Limited gives no promise that Ajankara will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of harmful code, or that any listing, price, distance, delivery estimate or shop opening time shown is complete or accurate. Listings, photos, reviews and messages are created by users, and SmartViews Limited does not check all of them before they appear.
Sellers, not SmartViews Limited, are responsible for the goods and services they offer, including their quality, safety, legality and delivery. SmartViews Limited does not guarantee that a seller is trustworthy because they have completed verification. Verification is one check, not an endorsement. Meet sellers in safe, public places and take care when paying or handing over goods outside the app.
Payments, maps, messaging and other parts of Ajankara rely on services run by other companies, such as Paystack and map and messaging providers. SmartViews Limited is not responsible for their failures, delays or their own terms.
You agree to compensate SmartViews Limited, its directors and its staff for losses, costs and claims, including reasonable legal fees, brought by someone else because of content you posted, goods or services you sold, your breach of these terms, or your breach of the law or of another person's rights. We will tell you about a claim promptly and let you help to deal with it where that is practical.
Ajankara, including its name, logo, design, software and the content we create, belongs to SmartViews Limited or its licensors. These terms give you the right to use Ajankara as intended and no other right in it.
You keep the rights in what you post (listings, photos, reels, reviews, messages). You give SmartViews Limited a free, non-exclusive licence to host, store, display, resize, reproduce and distribute it on and for Ajankara, including in search results, previews and advertising of your own shop, for as long as it stays on Ajankara and for a short time afterwards while it is removed from our systems and backups. You confirm that you have the right to post it and that it does not infringe anyone's rights. If you think something on Ajankara infringes your rights, tell us at support@ajankara.com with enough detail for us to find it.
These terms, and any dispute about them or about Ajankara, are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If you have a complaint about SmartViews Limited or Ajankara, please write to us first at support@ajankara.com so we can try to settle it informally. If we cannot, the courts of Nigeria have jurisdiction, and nothing here removes any right you have to complain to a regulator or consumer-protection authority. Disputes between a buyer and a seller about an order are handled under section 9.
For an order where a buyer and a seller meet in person, they can agree one place and one time window in the order, called a meeting point. It is an aid, not a guarantee of anyone's safety.
Ajankara is owned and operated by SmartViews Limited. Questions about these terms can be sent to support@ajankara.com.
